Jim Karabatsos, an English professor at Creighton University, her dynamic and poetic middle school English teacher; and her mother, whose tireless editing continues to shape her work. After receiving her degree in English, she traveled the United States alongside her husband who proudly served in the United States Army. Although she was busy raising her three boys, she never lost her passion to put pen to paper, carrying it with her in every season of life.
Today, you can find her back in Iowa on a small acreage with two dogs, one rabbit, twelve chickens and a picturesque view of the sun setting while her family plays an intense game of wiffle ball. Her debut children’s book, The Ribbon, was written for children and families navigating a medical diagnosis, with the hope of fostering unity and representation.
